Join the partners of the Neighborhood Habitat Improvement Project (NHIP) on Saturday, July 31 from 10 a.m. – noon at the W.J. Niederkorn Library as we celebrate Port Washington’s commitment to community conservation. You will learn about:
- the native plant species in the library’s pollinator gardens, and in particular, the importance of milkweed in a Monarch butterfly’s life cycle.
- the Monarch’s Methuselah Generation, aka Gen 5, that will be migrating to Mexico at the end of the summer, and how it is different from the four generations that were born earlier that same year.
- How to make seed bombs that can help you start growing native plants in your own garden that make “your home their home.”
Bring your questions and have fun with:
Charlotte Little - a retired veterinarian, Port Washington Garden Club member, and native plant enthusiast who was instrumental in the installation of the library’s pollinator gardens.
Tori Tasch - an art educator and former ARTservancy artist-in-residence who is passionate about pollinators and creative ways to help them.
Jill Kunsmann - an NHIP volunteer and citizen scientist who is dedicated to sharing the magic of Monarchs.
